My New Entreprenurial Journey

My New Entreprenurial Journey

Sooo, I kinda knew it was going to happen but kinda didn't know it was going to happen.

But wait let me fill y'all in!

In 2019, I was facing numerous challenges as a single mother of two children, having recently left a shelter. However, driven by my desire to improve my circumstances, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey and created my own product line. The products I offer are completely natural, formulated, and tested by me. People often inquire about the inspiration behind my venture, and it is my passion to create something of my own.

In 2019, I was faced with a challenging situation as a single mother of two children, living in a shelter. Despite these difficulties, I saw an opportunity to create a product line that would not only help me improve my own life but also help others. I was determined to create natural, high-quality products that I could trust and use myself. This led me to develop my own line of all-natural products, inspired by my own personal journey towards self-care and confidence. I wanted to make it easier for others to embrace their natural beauty, just like I did, and enjoy the simplicity of going natural, without the need for harsh chemicals or constant maintenance. I found that by using a satin bonnet to protect my hair at night, I could simply wet it in the morning, add some gel, and be ready to go, feeling confident and beautiful.

I continued to sell my natural hair products at the flea market on weekends, but I realized it wouldn't be enough to sustain my household and two kids. So, I sought out a full-time job and found a position at a top insurance company. I excelled in the role and was able to save enough to reinvest in both my business and my home. This was a great turning point for me.

The Covid-19 pandemic hit like a storm, leaving many people, including me, in a difficult situation. Fortunately, my insurance job remained unaffected and I was able to continue working. I utilized this time to earn my life insurance license and explore other opportunities. However, my weekend business selling products at the flea market came to a halt as I was unable to attend due to restrictions, and online sales were not generating enough revenue. Despite having to shut down my business, I trusted in a higher power and believed that there was a greater plan in store for me.

In 2021, I decided to leave my job at the insurance company and move to Houston. Despite joining a new office, things quickly took a turn for the worse. In October of that year, I realized that my current job wasn't going to meet my expectations. So, I began to explore options to revive my hair care product business.

In a fortuitous turn of events, right before moving to Houston, I took the leap and loc'd my hair, becoming an expert in the care and maintenance of dreadlocks. I couldn't have been happier with this decision as it not only fulfilled my passion but also proved to be a lifesaver for my family's finances.

In January, I saw the full potential of my loc business, as it started gaining traction and growing at a rapid pace. It was a thrilling journey to see how things unfolded, starting from my desire to revive my business and outgrow my previous insurance company, to ultimately stepping out on faith and successfully restarting my business.

The more I saw my loc business thriving, the more I felt the urge to leave my insurance company. I often came up with creative excuses to avoid work, even though I was already working from home. I knew I could be earning much more if I focused on either my insurance work or my business, but I didn't know which path to take. Over time, I became increasingly sure that I wanted to leave my company, but I was uncertain about the timing and how to make it happen. During a family trip to Florida, I had a chance to relax and recharge. But when I returned home, I was laid off. Although I knew it was coming, I didn't expect it to happen so soon. The previous few months, I had only been doing the bare minimum at work, as I had lost my motivation.

I will say the way it happened was weird though because why have me work that Monday be in communication with me and then have me work that Tuesday morning then fire me? but hey do you fam! It was honestly a weight off my shoulders to be fired! So here I am! full time with it! ready to let y'all in on how it goes! This is exciting and I am ready to tackle it just like I have tackled everything else! I will use this blog as a tool to show other mothers that this can be done! you can do this and anything else you decide to do! Just follow me. I will leave tips on how to get this done! I don't know it all, but I will share what I do know and hopefully it will help you!
